K Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute — Yoga Shala in Mysore

The K Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute, also known as Kpjayshala, is a renowned center in Mysore dedicated to the traditional practice of Ashtanga Yoga. This institute upholds the authentic lineage of K. Pattabhi Jois, with classes currently led by his daughter, R. Saraswathi Jois, and granddaughter, Sharmila. Ashtanga Yoga, as taught here, is a systematic practice involving correct breathing (Ujjayi Pranayama), postures (asanas), and gazing points (dristi), designed to foster physical, psychological, and spiritual development. The curriculum explores the eight limbs of Ashtanga as described by Patanjali. Classes are conducted in various batches from 5 AM to 9 AM, with optional Sanskrit and Philosophy classes available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 10 AM for an additional fee. Students are required to register online 15 days to 6 months prior to arrival and commit to a minimum one-month stay, with a maximum of three months per trip. Fees are Rs. 30,000+GST for the first month and Rs. 20,000+GST for subsequent months. The institute does not provide accommodation or food, and all fees are non-refundable.
